Keystone 10s edged at state tourney
STROUDSBURG, PA – The Keystone 10-year-old all-stars led early, fell behind, then staged a comeback that fell a run short in their Wednesday game at the Pennsylvania Little League championships in Stroudsburg. Morrisville held on for the 6-5 win, dropping Keystone into a Thursday 11 a.m. elimination game against either St. Marys or Pennridge.
Keystone jumped to a 2-0 first inning lead but Morrisville answered with three in the second and two in the third. The game stayed at 5-2 into the fifth inning as Keystone then plated a run as did Morrisville to make it 6-3 heading into the sixth. Keystone pushed across two runs in the top of the sixth to get within 6-5 but could get no further.
Keystone outhit the victors, ten to three, but committed four errors as Morrisville scored five unearned runs.
Carter Leone led the Keystone offense with two hits, including a double and an RBI. Adam Meyer had two singles and two runs batted in. Deagen Stover had a double and an RBI and singles came from Dylan McDermott (with an RBI) and Brooks Warner, Rylan Bathurst, Ryker Packech and Stafford Ley..
McDermott, Warner and Giovanni Cey shared the mound duties, combining on a 3-hitter, striking out five and walking six.
