Beech Creek Crickets seek state American Legion baseball title

LATROBE, PA – The American Legion Baseball Team the Beech Creek Crickets, sponsored by the Beech Creek American Legion Post 623, enter state tournament play Monday afternoon at Rosa-Oglietti Park in Latrobe.

The Crickets secured their spot in the state tournament last Tuesday when they beat last year’s state champions, Philipsburg in the semi-finals by a score of 5-3 in 8 innings. The Crickets then won the championship game against Bushy Run by a final score of 6-4. The Crickets roster contains many of the players from the Central Mountain baseball team which won conference and district titles this past spring.

The Crickets represent Region 7 and are matched up with Paxton from Region 4 for their first-round game.
The state tournament winner and runner up will advance to the Mid Atlantic Regional in Morgantown, WV next week.
