Keystone 10s into sectional title game with 8-4 Tuesday win
ATHENS, PA – The Keystone 10-year-old all-star squad finds itself one win away from a trip to the Pennsylvania state championship tourney after its come-from-behind 8-4 Tuesday win over Selinsgrove in the winners’ bracket final at the Section 3 tourney in Athens.
Keystone trailed 4-1 at the end of three, but erupted for three runs in the top of the fourth and four more in the fifth to pull away for the 8-4 win and a berth in Thursday’s championship game.
Keystone spread around seven singles and was aided by four Selinsgrove errors and seven walks. Those singles came from Brooks Warner, Carter Leone, Dylan McDermott, Rylin Bathurst, Ryker Packech, Deagen Stover and Jordan Germello; McDermott had two RBIs.
Meanwhile three Keystone pitchers combined for a 4-hitter. Warner, Leone and McDermott did the mound work, McDermott going the final 3.2 innings to pick up the win; he allowed only one hit, no runs, walked three and struck out seven.
