Ironman set for Sunday start at Bald Eagle State Park
BLANCHARD, PA – The Ironman race through Centre and Clinton Counties kicks off Sunday with a 1.3-mile swim at Bald Eagle State Park, before a bike ride into Clinton County via Route 150 to Mill Hall, then onto Route 64 to the Jacksonville Road, ultimately ending in a 13-mile run on the Penn State campus, finishing at Beaver Stadium.
Bald Eagle State Park has announced some Sunday schedule revisions to accommodate the more than 2,700 Ironman competitors:
On Sunday, July 2nd, 2023, Bald Eagle State Park will be hosting portions of the IRONMAN Race. Close to 3,000 participants will be competing, therefore, travel in the area will be restricted.
Expect NO inbound or outbound vehicle traffic within the Main Park Area between the hours of 7:30 AM and 9:30 AM. Campers and Marina guests may be directed through, however, race participants will be given priority.
The Beach Area will be closed from approximately 4:30 AM to 9:30 AM. Because participants will be swimming, this part of the lake will be sectioned off. If boating or fishing, please plan accordingly. You will not be permitted to pass through this section of the lake until after 9:30 AM.
Bald Eagle Boat Launch will also be closed Saturday night (July 1st), and reopen Sunday (July 2nd) around noon.
According to race officials, all travel should return to normal no later than 12:00 PM on Sunday, July 2nd.
