Clinton unemployment rate edges up
HARRISBURG, PA – Clinton County’s jobless rate increased slightly during the month of May, according to information released Tuesday by the state Department of Labor & Industry.
The unemployment rate for the county rose to 4.4% as compared to 4.1% in April. One year ago in May 2022, the unemployment number was 5.0%.
Chester County had the lowest rate at 2.7% for the month of May out of the Commonwealth’s 67 counties, while Clinton ranked no. 44. Forest County checked in at the bottom with a 6.0% reading.
For the week ending June 17, 2023, the state reports that 50 Clinton County residents filed for initial unemployment claims, as compared to 43 one year ago. There were 259 continued claims in mid-June 2023, with 232 listed one year ago.
