St. John home gutted by Tuesday fire

WOODWARD TOWNSHIP, PA – Firemen from all over the Clinton County responded to a noon-time fire at the Brian St. John residence just off Brewery Hollow Road, across the river from Lock Haven.

The initial report said no one was at home at the St. John residence at the time the fire was discovered just after noon. It was reported a dog inside was freed and briefly ran away but was safely recovered.

Volunteers manned intersections in downtown Lock Haven and on the Lockport side of the Veterans Bridge to allow immediate passage for emergency vehicles as the Lockport side of the bridge is controlled by traffic signals while a river walkway is being built.

Firemen set up a base station at the base of Brewery Hollow Road to take water from a nearby hydrant to the fire site.

Additional information was not immediately available, but a large portion of the massive house was in flames when firemen arrived. Smoke could be seen from Lock Haven when the flames were at their height.
