County considers burn ban

LOCK HAVEN, PA – Clinton County government, looking at recent weeks of rain-free weather, is considering imposing an outdoor burning ban.

The county commissioners raised the burn ban possibility at their work session Monday. Commissioner Angela Harding said the county has been in touch with the Forestry Department from the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources. She said the county is considering imposition of the ban, by resolution, at Thursday’s voting session.

Harding noted the Monday weather forecast calling for rain and said it is hoped the ban will not be necessary. If implemented, she said, it would be in effect, after 48 hours, for 30 days.

Monday’s work session was the first such meeting for the county’s new chief clerk, Desiree Myers. Board chairman Miles Kessinger noted Monday was the first official day of retirement for former chief clerk Jann Meyers.
