38 requests so far for Clinton County small business grant program
LOCK HAVEN, PA – The Clinton County Commissioners in early May announced a Small Business Grant Program, up to $10,000 per qualifying business, and in just the first week of availability 38 requests have been submitted to the county planning office.
County planner/engineer Steve Gibson provided an update on the program response at the commissioners’ Monday work session. The grant application form went up on the county website on May 8 and as of Monday morning 38 businesses had requested $343,281. Gibson said most have asked for the full $10,000 from funding the county is making available through remaining federal American Rescue Plan dollars.
Gibson said there have been a variety of requests, from advertising to training, start-up funds for new businesses, equipment replacement, hiring new employees, engineering and architectural services and to cover business losses due to inflation.
Thursday, May 25 is the deadline to apply. The program is for businesses with less than 100 employees and $1 million in income. Eligibility particulars can be found at the county website. The grants will be awarded only to those businesses which have not received pandemic-related funding through the county earlier. Non-profit organizations are not eligible.
