NP-L ends Lady Wildcat softball streak at ten with 1-0 win
LIBERTY, PA – It was a pitcher’s duel when Central Mountain softball travelled to North Penn Liberty for a non-conference match up Thursday. North Penn Liberty brought a record of 15-0-1 to the game while the Lady ‘Cats came in at 11-2. The home team edged the visitors, 1-0.
Central Mountain pitcher Addie McKeague pitched the complete game and faced 22 batters allowing one run on 4 hits while striking out 12, walking none and hitting on batter.
The North Penn Liberty pitcher was also filling up the stat sheet, facing 24 batters allowing only 2 hits while holding the Cats scoreless and striking out 7 and walking 3.
The deciding inning was the bottom of the fourth when the leadoff batter reached on a spinning blooper off the end of the bat and was brought home two batters later on a double to the left field fence.
Collecting hits for Central Mountain were Madisyn Wian with a single and Madison Hardy with a single.
The Lady Wildcats will return to action Friday, in the final conference game of the season at home against Selinsgrove (10-8; 6-3). CM defeated the Lady Seals by a 12-2 score earlier in the season. A win would clinch the Heartland Conference Division I championship.
District playoff information will be available as soon as Tuesday of next week.
