Bucks fall to Montgomery 17-2, rematch with SVRC Thursday
By Bees O’Brien
FARWELL, PA- For the second time in three days the Bucktail baseball team would fall to Montgomery. Their Mid Penn Conference rematch last Friday would see the visiting Red Raiders down the Bucks 17-2 in five innings.
Bucktail played Montgomery tough through one inning and erased a 2-0 deficit by seeing Brett Mason and Kyler Friese cross the plate in their half of the first inning.
Montgomery would score 6 runs in the second and third innings to build a 14-2 lead. Three more runs in the fifth inning would be enough to enforce the 15-run mercy rule and give Montgomery the win. The Red Raiders improved to 9-4, while Bucktail dropped to 1-12 on the season.
Brett Mason, Kyler Friese, Xander Shearer and Gary Whipp each collected hits for Bucktail.
The Bucks will have a busy week this week. It starts with a home game with Millville (6-8) on Monday. The Quakers will be coming off of a 16-1 victory over Sugar Valley (1-14) on Saturday.
Those same Phoenix will then host the Bucks on Thursday at Taggart Park in Lock Haven. Sugar Valley is the Bucks’ lone victory and SVRC will be looking to avenge that 13-12 loss in Farwell earlier in the season. That game will be livestreamed on The Record Online.
