Phoenix softball edges Benton, 23-21

BENTON, PA – The Sugar Valley Phoenix softball team picked up a 23-21 win at Benton on Wednesday. Freshman Cheyenne Weaver was the story with seven RBIs, four coming on an inside-the-park grand slam homerun.

The win moved the Phoenix to 2-4 on the season, the first victory since a season-opening win over St. Joseph’s Catholic. Benton dropped to 2-3.

Sugar Valley returns home for a Friday game against Northwest (2-2) at the Booneville field.
