Wildcats shutout Shik, move to 8-0
SUNBURY, PA – The Central Mountain baseball team had not played in six days and it took a couple innings to get in gear, but when they did the Wildcats powered their way to a 13-0, 5-inning win over Shikellamy on a cold, blustery Monday in Sunbury.
The victory put coach Mike Kramer’s team at 8-0 on the season, 5-0 in the Heartland Conference. And the win sets up a Wednesday home-field showdown with Williamsport (3-0; 5-1).
Monday’s game was scoreless into the top of the third but six ‘Cat runs, followed by four in the fourth and three in the fifth sent them home early with another one-sided win. CM had 10 hits on the day and was helped by 12 walks from three Brave pitchers.
Meanwhile the Wildcats’ Cru Stover and Dallas Alexander combined on a 3-hit shutout. Stover went the first four, giving up the three Brave hits while striking out six and walking two. Alexander worked a perfect final inning, registering three strikeouts.
Levi Schlesinger paced the ‘Cat attack, going 3-for-3 with a double and three RBIs. Elek Fravel continued his torrid season, a 2-for-3 day with a double and two RBIs. Braylen Corter had a double and three RBI while Stover had a double and an RBI. Providing singles were Gabe Johnson, Kevin Grenninger and S Thomas.
Also on the Wildcat schedule this week is a trip to Milton (2-3;2-4) on Friday. Central Mountain already owns a 10-0, late March win over the Black Panthers as second cycle Heartland play begins.
