Muncy’s Moyer fans 17 in 1-0 win over Lady Bucks
By Bees O’Brien
MUNCY, PA- St. Bonaventure saw exactly what type of dominant pitcher Muncy’s Nolah Moyer can be. The Division I Atlantic 10 program wasted little time in signing Moyer to continue her softball career with the Bonnies. On Monday night Bucktail found out just how good Moyer can be when she is on.
The Lady Indians senior would fan 17 Lady Bucks and allow just one hit in a 1-0 complete game victory. The win gave Muncy an important early season lead in the Mid Penn Conference standings, but Bucktail showed just how strong they were against the District 4 2A favorites.
Muncy entered the game following a 10-0 win over Southern Columbia and a 22-1 over Sugar Valley. Bucktail pitcher Mak Wagner and her defense contained an explosive offense to just one run. Wagner and the Lady Bucks held Muncy to just four base hits and committed one error on the day.
Muncy scored their only run in the second inning on a fielder’s choice. That run would end up being highly costly as the game continued to play out.
Centerfielder Kayla Probert recorded Bucktail’s only hit of the game. Haley Burrows also reached base against Moyer when she lead off the game with a walk.
Bucktail (1-1, 1-1) will be back in action on Thursday when they host District 6 power West Branch (2-1); the Lady Warriors lost their first game of the season by a 3-1 score to Tyrone on Monday.
