Shikellamy ends Lady Wildcat season

SUNBURY, PA – Shikellamy freshman guard Lily Fatool was too much for the Central Mountain girls basketball team Tuesday night. The sharp-shooting Lady Brave swished nine 3-pointers on the way to 29 points in Shik’s 60-27 win over the Lady Wildcats.

The victory moved Shikellamy to 13-10 on the season and a trip to the District 6-4 Class 5A title game Saturday at Mount Aloysius. The loss ended Central Mountain’s year with a 7-16 mark.

Central Mountain played some of its best offensive ball in period two, clawing back from a 12-3 first quarter deficit to get within 20-16 midway through the second quarter. But then Fatool and teammates went on an incredible 26-point run, through the end of the first half and well into the third quarter. Meanwhile Central Mountain went cold until a late basket in period three, putting the score  at 46-18 with a quarter to go. The game went into the mercy rule shortly thereafter and while the Lady Wildcats hustled all night, the Lady Braves just could not miss.

It was a night that saw the home team drain 12 3-pointers in all. Meanwhile Central Mountain was led by 4-year standout Kiahna Jones who finished with 16 points, including 4-for-7 from the field and 7-of-9 from the foul line; the Lock Haven University-bound senior also pulled down five rebounds. Ava Doyle finished with 6 points, Macy Plowman and Tara Mader with 2 each and Morgan Temple with 1.
