LH women’s basketball drops close conference clash at Millersville

MILLERSVILLE, PA – The Lock Haven women’s basketball team (9-14, 7-11 PSAC) headed to Millersville University (15-9, 8-10 PSAC) on Wednesday night for a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) battle, but the Marauders snuck away for the 59-56 win.

 

Over the first quarter, Millersville started in control, planting a 14-9 lead after the first ten minutes of action.

 

The second quarter saw the Bald Eagles close the gap with four points each from Alana Robinson (Rockaway, N.J./Pope John Paul II) and Jenadia Jordan (Lititz, Pa./Linden Hall) to limit the home team’s lead to just one at halftime at 25-24.

 

With six points in the third quarter, Jackie Fetsko (Marion Center, Pa./Marion Center) kept the Bald Eagles alive and clawing at the Marauders, but the host held on to a 38-36 lead heading into the final ten minutes.

 

The final quarter of action saw 41 points combined by the two foes. With the two teams battling it out in the final minutes. Jordan completed a three-point play to give LHU the 54-51 lead with under two minutes remaining.

 

Millersville responded emphatically, scoring eight of the final ten points to secure the tight conference contest, 59-56.

 

Robinson played the entire 40 minutes of the game, scoring 15 points and grabbing two blocks and two steals. Brooke Lawyer (Hanover, Pa./Delone Catholic), helped the scoring effort with ten points in just 16 minutes.

 

The Bald Eagles are back in action on Saturday when they host Kutztown. That matchup is scheduled for a 1 p.m. tipoff.
