LH Robinson’s Record Sparks Big PSAC East Win for Women’s Basketball
LOCK HAVEN, PA – The Lock Haven women’s basketball team (9-13, 7-10 PSAC) hosted Mansfield University (2-19, 1-16 PSAC) for a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) game as the Bald Eagles steamrolled the Mounties, 57-35, with highlights all over the court.
It also proved to be a historic night for standout-freshman Alana Robinson (Rockaway, N.J./Pope John Paul II) as the defensive star broke the school’s all-time single season record for blocks, and now sits at 48.
The Bald Eagles started out with a commanding lead over the Mounties with a lead of 12-4 only five minutes into the game. With three minutes left in the quarter, Robinson placed a block to become the leader in the single season blocks record, finishing the quarter with eight points as LHU led 18-12.
Robinson and Taylor Leidy (Alexandria, Pa./Juniata Valley) started the second quarter with five combined points in the first minute. The Bald Eagles and the Mounties remained deadlocked through the quarter with Lock Haven taking a 31-24 lead into half.
After half, the Bald Eagles came out soaring over the Mounties. LHU’s impressive defense stifled the Mounties, holding them to only one point in the quarter, and the home team took a 49-25 lead.
Lock Haven shut down Mansfield in the final quarter and took the important PSAC victory winning 57-35
Robinson was dominant tonight with 20 points, two blocks and five rebounds. She led the team in both points and blocks. Leidy helped the team out with 14 points, including 100% from the three-point line and 60% from the field.
Kylie Metzger (Roaring Spring, Pa./Central Martinsburg) had an impressive night grabbing a career-high of 13 rebounds and eight points.
