LH Men’s Basketball Downs Mansfield; Notches Third Straight Win

LOCK HAVEN, PA – Behind a balanced offensive attack which saw six Bald Eagles record double figures, the Lock Haven University men’s basketball team (16-6, 12-5 PSAC) soared past Mansfield University (5-16, 4-13 PSAC), 89-76, in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) contest on Monday evening.

After a tight and physical first half, Lock Haven held just a slight 43-42 lead, but the Bald Eagles turned up the heat in the second half and outscored the Mounties, 46-34, in the final 20 minutes to secure the win. With the victory, LHU has now won three straight and remain in second place in the Eastern Division.

Eli Washington (Lancaster, Pa./Hempfield) led all Bald Eagles with 16 points, eight of which came in the final five minutes as the Bald Eagles point guard helped guide The Haven home for the win.

Dymir Montague (Philadelphia, Pa./Neumann-Goretti) provided a huge spark with a barrage from downtown, hitting four key three-pointers and totaling 15 points.

Off the bench, Justice Shoats (Wilkes-Barre, Pa./Holy Redeemer) gave LHU a huge lift and chipped in 15 points along with four assists.

The trio of Jalen Gorham (York, Pa./MacDuffie School (Saint Michael’s)), Jayy Davis (Cheltenham, Pa./Hatboro-Horsham (Washington Adventist)) and James Price (Joppa, Md./Archbishop Curley) all added 10 points, as LHU achieved six players in double digits for the first time since January 1, 2019 when the Bald Eagles beat the Mounties once again.

Gorham also hauled in a game-high 10 boards for Lock Haven as the Bald Eagles held a 42-35 advantage on the glass. Gorham also tallied a game-high six assists in a box score filling performance.

After trailing early in the second half, a huge 10-0 run helped push Lock Haven ahead 64-52 capped by a Mike Knouse (Horsham, Pa./Archbishop Wood) three-pointer to bring The Haven faithful to their feet.

LHU was once again efficient from the floor and shot 51.7 percent on the game and the Bald Eagles trademark defense held the Mounties to just 41.7 on the night.
