Lady Wildcats edge Danville, 39-35
BALD EAGLE TOWNSHIP, PA – The Central Mountain girls’ basketball team led early, trailed later on, but pulled out a 39-35 thriller over visiting Danville Monday night. It was the second win in a row for Coach Scott Baker’s team and put the Lady ‘Cats at 5-11 on the season while Danville dropped to 7-11.
Senior Kiahna Jones led a well balanced CM attack with 12 points, including her team’s only 3-pointer. Tara Mader and Ava Doyle checked in with 8 points, followed by Keely Rohrbach with 4, Danica Kelly with 3 and Taylor Doyle with 2.
The margin of victory was earned at the foul line, CM going 8-for-20 while Danville was 4-for-13. The Lady Wildcats used a 11-7 final quarter edge to break a 28-28 tie after three to notch the win.
Central Mountain will be home with Heartland Conference leader Jersey Shore (13-3) on Wednesday and finish the week Friday at Selinsgrove (4-12).
