LH Women’s Basketball Falls to Shippensburg Saturday
LOCK HAVEN, PA- The Lock Haven women’s basketball team (7-12, 5-9 PSAC) got off to a strong start and trailed first-place Shippensburg University (17-3, 12-2 PSAC) by two at halftime, but in the end, the visiting Raiders escaped The Haven’s Thomas Fieldhouse with a 73-59 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division victory.
Brooke Lawyer (Hanover, Pa./Delone Catholic) led Lock Haven with 23 points. She knocked down five 3-pointers.
Alana Robinson (Rockaway, N.J./Pope John Paul II) had another monster stat line for the Bald Eagles. She finished with a remarkable six blocks, six points, nine rebounds, five assists, and three steals.
Robinson now has 44 blocks on the season, the second-most ever in a single season for a Lock Haven women’s basketball player. The school record for blocks in a single season in 46. To date, Robinson’s 44 blocks are most this season in the PSAC.
Carly Fitzmorris (Hamburg, N.J./Pope John XXIII) added six points and three rebounds today, and Olivia Smith (Alexandria, Pa./Juniata Valley (Frostburg State)) chipped in with five rebounds. Jenadia Jordan (Lititz, Pa./Linden Hall) finished with seven points, three assists, and two blocks.
For the game, LHU benefitted from 40 points off the bench.
Host-Lock Haven led 11-6 after the opening quarter, but Shippensburg led 28-26 at halftime. Behind three total players in double-figures scoring, visiting Ship pulled away in the second half.

The Bald Eagles get back on the court on Wednesday (Feb. 1) with a road contest at local-rival Bloomsburg. The PSAC East game is slated for a 5:30 p.m. tipoff.
