Strouse announces re-election bid for District Attorney

LOCK HAVEN, PA – District Attorney Dave Strouse has announced that he intends to seek a third term as Clinton County’s District Attorney.

Strouse first won election as District Attorney in 2015. He initially campaigned on four primary areas of focus: 1) drug and safety concerns in county schools; 2) starting a Veteran’s Court Program; 3) training and resources for our local police officers; and 4) imposing more intensive supervision programs for offenders with substance abuse concerns.

Less than seven months after Strouse took office, Clinton County became the first county in the region to implement a Veteran’s Court Program in July of 2016. The program aims to help military veterans who find themselves in trouble with the law by providing structure, treatment and support for PTSD, mental health and substance abuse issues.

During his tenure as DA, Strouse used drug forfeiture money – money seized from drug dealers by police – to fund equipment purchases for local police departments. As part of that program, Strouse was able to provide funding necessary to purchase new duty firearms for all Lock Haven City Police Officers.

Strouse also secured funding for drug prevention programs in Keystone Central School District, in particular, the Red Ribbon Week campaign each year. The DA’s office has provided drug and alcohol prevention programs to students at the middle school level and bullying prevention programs at all grade levels.

Strouse has overseen more than 5,000 criminal prosecutions in the courtroom and has secured convictions in a wide range of cases including Homicide, Aggravated Assault, Burglary, Robbery, Rape, Kidnapping, Child Sexual Assault, Child Abuse, Narcotics distribution, Animal Cruelty, and Homicide while DUI.

Strouse has also earned statewide recognition during his first two terms as District Attorney. In 2016, Strouse was appointed by the Governor to serve on the Pennsylvania Commission on Sentencing: a prominent bi-partisan legislative commission tasked with improving Pennsylvania Sentencing laws.

In 2018, Strouse was appointed to serve as the Sentencing Committee Chairman for the Pennsylvania District Attorneys’ Association (PDAA). In 2021 Strouse was elected as Treasurer for the PDAA, and still serves in that capacity.

In August of 2022, Strouse, along with Clinton County Sheriff Kerry Stover, hosted the inaugural Clinton County Night Out in Lock Haven. The program saw hundreds of families participate in law enforcement and emergency services demonstrations, educational programs, and other activities. Strouse and Stover already have plans for the second version of the event to occur on August 19, 2023.
Strouse has overseen a major transformation of the Office of District Attorney over the past eight years, including the relocation of the office and the modernization of the office with the help of technology and key staffing changes.

“Like I have said so many times, I have a vested interest to keep making Clinton County a better place for our kids. I’ve spent my whole life here, and my wife and I are raising our three boys here. We have made tremendous strides in the District Attorney’s Office and we have really come a long way, but we can continue to get better. We will continue to get better and improve Clinton County.”

Born and raised in Beech Creek, Strouse graduated from Bald Eagle-Nittany High School. He is a Penn State Altoona graduate and earned his Juris Doctorate from the Villanova University School of Law. Strouse resides in Lamar Township with his wife, Sara, and their three sons, Cooper, Logan and Andrew. He is the immediate past president of the Lock Haven Kiwanis and volunteers as a Little League baseball coach in Keystone Little League.
