Wildcat boys notch another road win, over Milton 85-64
MILTON, PA – It was bombs-away for the Central Mountain boys’ basketball team at Milton High on Tuesday night. The Wildcats drained an NBA-like 14 three-pointers on the way to an 85-64 trouncing of the Panthers. The victory set up a key showdown at home on Friday against co-Heartland Conference front-runner Shamokin.
On Tuesday, the Wildcats led 11-4 after one and opened up the offense in the second quarter, gaining a double-digit lead and not looking back. Nine different players scored as they hit from all over the court, scoring 24 points in the second, followed by 27 and 23 in quarters three and four. The 85 points is the team’s second highest total for the season, exceeded only by the 87 they scored in an 87-63 win over Jersey Shore ten days ago.
Senior Jack Hanna paced all scorers with 22 points, including four treys. Hayden Pardo was next with 16, Hunter Hoy with 12 and Essex Taylor with 11. Other scorers were Xavier Persun with 9 (on three 3-point field goals), Levi Schlesinger 6, Dom Longworth 5, Curtis Anderson 3 and Brady Myers 1.
Coach Tyler Bardo told therecord-online, “We shared the ball well and hunted good shots.” He said he thought the team was “a little undisciplined from time to time defensively.”
The Wildcats, after much of the season to date on the road, will be home for six of their final seven regular season games, starting with the Shamokin rematch on Friday. CM is now 14-1 on the year and will be looking for revenge against the Indians who downed the Wildcats 69-51 on Jan. 11. Both are tied with Selinsgrove with one loss each in the Heartland. The Wildcats will host Selinsgrove on Feb. 3. Milton fell to 6-8 with its Tuesday loss.
