Another close one, another tough loss for CM girls

BALD EAGLE TOWNSHIP, PA – It was a defensive struggle at the Central Mountain gym Tuesday night and it took overtime for visiting Selinsgrove to edge the Central Mountain girls by a 32-30 margin.

The game was tied at 30-all in regulation after the Lady Wildcats outscored the Lady Seals by an 11-5 margin in the final eight minutes to pull even. But Selinsgrove would score the only two points in overtime to go home with the win.

Kiahna Jones led CM with 13 points and added four steals and 3 assists. Other points came from Tara Mader with 5, Ava Doyle and Keely Rohrbach with 4, Taylor Doyle with 3 and Macy Plowman with 1.

Both teams struggled offensively, each with 11 field goals. Central Mountain did have an edge in rebounds, 34 to 23, Ava Doyle with 11 and Jones with 10.

Central Mountain falls to 3-9 overall, 0-6 in the Heartland Conference. Selinsgrove is 4-10 with the win. Next up for  coach Scott Baker’s team is a home, non-conference contest with Penns Manor (10-4) from Clymer, Thursday at 7:30 p.m..
