Gates seeks Porter Township Supervisor seat in upcoming election
PORTER TOWNSHIP, PA – Ryan Gates announced Thursday he will be running for Porter Township Supervisor in the May primary His candidacy announcement:
“My name is Ryan Gates, and I am announcing my candidacy for Township Supervisor in Porter Township, Clinton County Pennsylvania. This will be my first time running for a public office. I am the son of Gary and Cathy Gates and a 33-year-old Republican resident of Porter Township. My wife Allyson and I have been married since 2017 and have a son Rhett, who is 18 months old.
“I have lived in the township for nine years, but we have been homeowners since 2018. Not only do I live in the township, but I am also employed here too. I have been employed at Snavely’s Mill for the past nine years. I currently serve as a board member on the Porter Township Recreation Board, and I am also currently an active member of the Nittany Valley Volunteer Fire Company in Lamar.
“The reason for running for Porter Township Supervisor is, I want the opportunity to serve the hard-working citizens of our community for current and future generations while honoring past generations. I believe that having an active role in local government is important to preserve our way of life. As a supervisor, I would have open ears to residents and their concerns to assure that Porter Township remains a great and safe place to live and raise a family.
“I like many, don’t like sudden changes, but I know that without keeping up with the times, you get left behind. I plan to look forward and plan for our future, all while preserving our great history within Porter Township. While planning for growth in the township, it is also equally important to me to remember our roots and preserve agricultural land within the township.
“Road maintenance, park maintenance, outdoor recreation, and public safety are big concerns of mine. I would like to see the township work closer together with our volunteer emergency services that serve our great township. I feel we need more things such as, outdoor recreation activities and community events that benefit people in our community, all while bringing the people in our community closer together. I will be circulating my nomination petition in the upcoming weeks, and I hope to have your support in the upcoming election and would consider it a great honor and privilege to serve the great citizens of Porter Township.”
