CM Wrestling’s King of Mountain moves Friday start time to 2 p.m.

BALD EAGLE TOWNSHIP, PA – Thursday’s winter storm over central Pennsylvania has caused a slight revision to the schedule for the annual King of the Mountain wrestling tournament scheduled for Central Mountain High School this Friday and Saturday.

Instead of starting Friday at 11 a.m., the first round will take place at 2 p.m. The round of 16 is scheduled to follow after as well as two rounds of consolations. Doors will open at 12:30 p.m. for spectators with weigh-ins at noon.

Saturday’s schedule begins with the quarterfinals at 10 a.m. and concludes with the championship and consolation finals at 4:15 p.m.

The weather caused two teams to scratch: Souderton from eastern Pennsylvania and Chartiers Valley from western Pennsylvania.

Among the 29 teams competing, there five returning PIAA champions. In addition to Central Mountain’s own Dalton Perry, others are Scott Johnson of Muncy, Pierson Manville of State College, Vinny Kilkeary of Greater Latrobe and Aaron Seidel of Northern Lebanon. A sixth, Dylan Evans of Chartiers Valley, won’t be competing as a result of his team’s withdrawal.

Central Mountain, ranked #4 preseason AAA in Tom Elling’s PA Wrestling Handbook, is expected to be among the squads competing for the team title. The Wildcats bring back two KoM champs from a year ago in Perry and Luke Simcox.

Other top ranked teams include #6 State College, #7 Greater Latrobe, #12 Canon-McMillan and #14 Franklin Regional among AAA teams and #6 Bald Eagle Area among AA teams. Bellefonte, Williamsport and Mifflin County will be area teams competing. Williamsport took the team title a year ago, Council Rock South (not competing this year) second and State College third. The Wildcats finished in fifth place.

Therecord-online will provide audio coverage for the Friday rounds and, in conjunction with the Wildcat Wrestling Booster Club, will provide audio/video coverage Saturday on a pay-per-view basis, all proceeds to the booster club which uses its KoM tourney as its principal fundraiser.
