County gets funding okay for next phase of Bald Eagle Valley Trail
LOCK HAVEN, PA – Clinton County Planner/Engineer Steve Gibson announced Monday the county has been approved for a $1 million grant to complete the next link of the Bald Eagle Valley Trail. He passed along word of the PennDOT grant at the county commissioners’ work session.
Specifically, it’s for project’s Phase Five, running from the east end of Katie’s Crossing, the bridge over the Susquehanna River linking Wayne and Pine Creek Townships, to the Avis exit of Route 220. Gibson said the money is from Federal Transportation Alternative Set-Aside Funds. Cost estimate for the work is $720,000. The county had approved a resolution in June seeking the funding.
Ultimately the biking/pedestrian trail will stretch better than 11 miles, from the Castanea Train Station to the Jersey Shore Trailhead for the Pine Creek Valley Rail/Trail.
