Rep Borowicz earns third term in Harrisburg
LOCK HAVEN, PA – The unofficial election night tally is in and 76th district state Rep. Stephanie Borowicz easily won a third term in Harrisburg.
The Wayne Township Republican won by a better than two-to-one margin in the newly configured district consisting of all of Clinton County and a sizeable chunk of Union County. The unofficial Tuesday night vote totals from 34 precincts in Clinton County and another 16 in Union County showed the incumbent with 15,738 to 7,581 for her Democratic opponent, Denise Maris from Renovo.
Borowicz took her home county 9,475 to 4,496 for Maris; Union County saw Borowicz with 6,263 votes to 3,085 for Maris.
Incumbent 15th district US Congressman Glenn “GT” Thompson from Howard was well on his way to another term in Washington. He carried Clinton County handily with 9,860 votes to 4,123 for his Democratic challenger, Mike Molesevich.
Republican candidates on the statewide ballot also did well in Clinton County. Republican gubernatorial candidate Doug Mastriano polled 8,496 votes to 5,280 for Democrat Josh Shapiro. Multiple reporting services Tuesday night projected Shapiro as the state’s next governor.
In the race for US Senate, Republican Mehmet Oz received 8,777 votes in Clinton County, Democrat John Fetterman with 4,738. Most reporting services Tuesday night said that race was too close to call.
14,101 Clinton County voters went to the polls on Tuesday, a 64 percent voter turnout.
