–Castanea Township Community Day Returns July 19
Save the date for Castanea Township Community Day on Saturday, July 19, and enjoy a fun-filled day with something for all ages. Now in its fifth year, Castanea Community Day will offer a variety of activities and entertainment across several locations in the township, including the Castanea Historic Railroad Complex (15 Logan Avenue), Castanea Trail, Castanea Fire Hall (111 McElhattan Ave.), and the Lock Haven Moose Lodge #100 (150 S. Hanna Street, Lock Haven).
With 20 vendors already signed up for the event and more expressing interest, the township supervisors are working to add extra space to accommodate more vendors, provide additional seating, and expand parking areas for Community Day this year.
This year’s entertainment highlights include an exciting live reptile demonstration by Clyde Peeling’s Reptile Land at 10:00 a.m. at the Castanea Fire Hall, plus live music from the Clark McLaine Band from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. at the Moose Lodge. Children can look forward to a bounce house and a variety of fun activities throughout the day, and to close out the festivities, organizers are finalizing plans for a fireworks display.
The Recreation Committee is seeking donations of themed baskets or monetary contributions for a raffle giveaway that will add extra excitement to the event. All raffle proceeds will directly benefit the Community Day event.
The Recreation Committee suggests basket themes such as gift cards, gardening, grilling, spa and self-care, camping, outdoor fun, pet-focused baskets, coffee and tea, adult beverages, and kid-friendly baskets (art supplies, games, movie night treats). Donors are kindly asked to avoid including chocolate in the baskets due to the summer heat.
The deadline for basket donations is Friday, July 11. To donate a basket or make a monetary contribution, contact MaryPat Dion at 570-660-0275 or mpdion3@gmail.com.
Community Day is made possible by the Castanea Township Recreation Committee, Township Supervisors, Castanea Fire Company, and Moose Lodge #100.
