Water service shutoff due Monday on Woodward Township side of Jay Street Veterans Bridge; traffic delays too
WOODWARD TOWNSHIP, PA – Suburban Water Authority has notified customers near the Riverview Walkway project that water service will be cut off at 8 a.m. on Monday while work is carried out on a new line near Riverview Park along the Farrandsville Road.
Suburban Water circulated notice to affected customers on Friday. It said water will be turned off Monday morning to “make necessary system repairs.” Water will be off until approximately 3 p.m. or until the work is completed. Customers may experience some turbidity after completion of the work. Tuesday has been set up as a rain date, if needed.
The water line work is part of the $7.5 million Riverview Park walkway project. PennDOT also announced there will be traffic delays while crews install the new line. The contractor will be flagging traffic through the area, enforcing an alternating traffic pattern. Drivers should expect delays—especially near the Farrandsville Road/Route 664 (Veterans Bridge) intersection. Delays could be lengthy, and drivers are strongly encouraged to use alternate routes.
Utility work is expected to continue through the end of the year. Clearwater Construction, Inc. of Mercer, PA is the project contractor which will carry into 2024.
PennDOT has announced it will create a project page in 2023 to help communicate impacts to pedestrians, river users, and those using other recreational facilities. Once complete, pedestrians will enjoy safer access to River View Park from the Veteran’s Bridge and motorists will benefit from safety and drainage upgrades.
