Central Mountain Softball Downs Danville
By Tom Elling
MILL HALL- Central Mountain extended their win streak to five games as
they once again had a balanced hitting attack to stop Danville, 8-2.
While it was not the cleanest game the Lady Cats have played, Coach
Taylor Thompson was pleased with the outcome and the effort.
Camryn Weaver got the win and her coach mentioned the ‘zip’ Weaver had-
striking out seven, while walking two. Seven of the ‘Ironwomen’ hits
were bunched by the top of the line-up. The Wilson sisters collected
five of those (Brynn with three; Breece with two). lead-off hitter and
losing pitcher Jillian Lowe added two hits- one a double.
The Wildcats had eight of the nine positions securing at least one hit.
Cirstyn Watson had a single and double and scored three runs; Cora Myers
smashed a no-doubt two-run homerun in the bottom of the fourth; Rylan
Andrews added three basehits.
Danville slipped to 6-9, while Central Mountain collected win #9 (with
just one loss).
The ‘Cats will next host Selinsgrove on Thursday. They will start at 4
PM finishing an earlier rain halted contest at Selinsgrove, then play
the regularly-scheduled game.
After praising her seniors on senior night, Coach Thompson stated that
she was ‘extremely proud of her team. I have great confidence with our
bats up and down the line-up. We did hit more than our share of pop-ups
tonight, but we’ll get that ironed out.”
She smiled and added “There is no other team that I’d want to coach.”
The line-score was:
Danville 1 0 0 1 0 0 1 2 Runs- 8 hits- 3 errors
Central Mt. 1 4 0 2 0 1 x 8 Runs- 11 hits- 3 errors
