Carmen Garmendez

In loving memory of Carmen Garmendez who was born in El Salvador, Central America, on March 30th, 1936. She was married to José Garmendez (Joe) for over 60 years. Joe passed away on July 24th, 2017.

Carmen-“Abuelita”,“Maca”,“Grandma”-passed away on Saturday, July 30th, 2022 at the age of 86. She died peacefully in her Kitchener home accompanied by her family.

Carmen had four daughters, one son, seven grandchildren, and one great grandson.

She worked at Sears Canada for many years part-time, and full-time as a wonderful mother and wife.

Carmen lived a very active lifestyle. In her spare time she loved listening to music-especially Spanish music (Mariachis), loved travelling, live theatre, attending live music concerts, gardening (and sharing her extensive knowledge), cooking (especially the popular Salvadorian dish, pupusas), watching Hispanic telenovelas, and for a special occasion-a small trip to the casinos.

Carmen was very lovable, responsible, sincere, caring, and very very cute.

She was cremated on Thursday, August 4th, 2022 in Guelph at the Woodland Cemetery at 1:00 PM accompanied by family, close friends, and with one of her favourite songs, La Golondrina, played in the background.

We will greatly miss you Carmen, Mom, my travelling partner and friend.
