Keystone 11s finish great run; fourth in Pennsylvania

ATHENS, PA – The Keystone 11 All-Stars saw an otherwise outstanding baseball season end on Tuesday in the Pennsylvania state championships. The Keystoners got locked up in a pitchers’ duel and Aston Middletown ended up with the win by a 3-0 score.

The losers’ bracket loss ended Keystone’s season in fourth place in Pennsylvania, achieving district and sectional titles on the way to the state tourney.

Aston held Keystone to a season-low three hits: a double and single from Logan Bower and a single from Carter Frank. Keystone meanwhile got a solid start from Evan Edwards who went 4.2 innings, giving up six hits, three runs (two earned), striking out five and walking two. Cam Fuller came on to record the final out in the fifth inning after Edwards had to exit on the pitch count rule.

Manager Cole Hanley had nothing but praise for his team, afterwards telling therecord-online,”I am very proud of the boys. They became a team. We had a lot of kids step up this postseason. Evan Edwards threw a heck of a game today! We will let this soak in for a little bit. And get back to work. I am so happy they got a taste of this tourney; hopefully we will be back again next year!”
