Obituary
Eugene Bennett, Jr. was born February 25, 1928 in Castanea, PA to Eugene A. and Lary E. (Schrack) Bennett. Eugene, known to his family as “Pap”, returned to Christ our Lord and his loving wife Julia “Mimi “on July 4, 2022.
His sisters, Miriam Marr and Pauline Peters, preceded him in death. Pap Bennett was devoted to his wife, Julia, and his family. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, Nascar, drinking coffee at Miller Brother’s, traveling with Mimi, family and friends, and an honest day’s work. Pap worked at several places some of them were the Armature Plant, Shadle’s Furniture, Hammer Mill Paper Company, Carpentry and Weaver Paving. Pap was an active member of the Living Faith Free Methodist Ministries.
Eugene Bennett proudly served as a Corporal in the Army from February 7, 1952 to November 6, 1953, where he was stationed with the 622nd EAMC as an Engineer Mechanic during the Korean War. During his time in the service, he obtained his GED and was humbly honored with his Diploma at a public celebration in June of 2019 where he was officially declared an alumnus of Central Mountain High School.
Mimi and Pap were married for 66 years. They had three children Sandra (William) Bubb of Albuquerque, NM, Eugene (Robin) Bennett of Mill Hall and Terry (Judi) Bennett of Rote. They had four grandchildren Eugene A. Bennett, Jr, (Christina); Johnathan C. Bennett, (Dezerea); Terry W. Bennett, Jr. and Ryan M. Bennett. Also, they had four great Grandchildren Sarah, Benjamin, Lily and Garrett Bennett. His sister Etta Harman of State College and several nieces and nephews survive him.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, July 8, 2022 at 11 A.M. at the Living Faith Free Methodist Ministry, 7175 Nittany Valley Drive, Mill Hall, PA 17751 with Pastor Brian Billings officiating. Burial with Military Honors will follow at Rest Haven Memorial Park, Lock Haven.
Friends and family will be received at the church for a time of viewing on Thursday from 6 to 8 P.M. and again on Friday from 10 A.M. until the time of the service.
