Clinton 12s win another

BALLS MILLS, PA – The Clinton 12 softball team has established itself as the top-heavy favorite to win the District 12 championship. Manager Shawn Weaver’s team took another mercy rule shortened win Friday evening, traveling to Hepburn and coming home with a 14-2, 4-inning victory over the host team. Coupled with a 16-1 Thursday win over Williamsport Area, Clinton is 2-0 and in the championship final set for Tuesday, June 28 at the Lycoming College field. This is a change from the original schedule. The opponent will be either Hepburn or Williamsport, scheduled to play Monday at Williamsport.

Clinton had two hurlers combine for a no-hitter. Maesyn Franquet went the first two and faced six Hepburn batters and struck out all of them. Reagan Weaver went the final two, striking out six and walking two. Combined, they recorded all 12 outs by strikeout. Their performance followed a no-hitter Thursday from Camdyn Weaver.

Meanwhile eight different Clinton batters combined for a total of 11 hits. Franquet and Mallory Wunder each had a double and a single; Reagan Weaver with two singles and three RBIs. Camdyn Weaver had a double and an RBI and singles came from Payton Williams, Karson Zidick, Aubrey Motter and Kassie Williams, the latter with two RBIs.
