Mary Jane Casper, 85, of Lock Haven, passed away Friday, June 17, 2022 at ProMedica Nursing Home, Jersey Shore.
Born December 9, 1936 in Pottsville, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Kathryn Cunningham Barnisky.
Mary Jane was raised in Tamaqua, graduating from Tamaqua High School before attending Bloomsburg State College where she met the love of her life. In July of 1956 at St. Peter and Paul’s Catholic Church, Tamaqua, she married Charles Casper, who survives in Lock Haven.
Since 1959, Mary Jane was a faithful member of Holy Spirit Catholic Parish, attending Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Lock Haven, where she was a member of the Catholic Daughter’s of America.
Mary Jane was employed at J.C. Penney’s in Lock Haven for several years prior to their closing in 1991.
She was an avid sports fan, especially of the Philadelphia Phillies and Eagles, and enjoyed taking the train to attend Phillies games in Philadelphia with her mother and brother. She loved going to the beach throughout her life. Most of all, Mary Jane loved the time she spent with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, Charles, she is survived by three daughters, Christy (John) Litchfield of Montoursville, Karen (Rick) Henry of Media and Kathy (Steve) Condo of Lock Haven; six grandchildren: Abby (Matt) Vanaskie, Brad (Kristen) Litchfield, Brian Henry, Kevin (Casey) Henry, Madeline Condo and Owen Condo; and five great-grandchildren: Charlie and Jack Vanaskie, Kennedy and Brayden Litchfield, and Cameron Henry.
In addition to her parents, Mary Jane was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Barnisky.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, June 30, 2022 at 11 A.M. at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 310 W. Water Street, Lock Haven, PA 17745 with Deacon Chip Young officiating.
Private burial will be held at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Lock Haven.
