Kylinn Stone Gilmore
Obituary
Kylinn Gilmore, 61, of Magnolia, Delaware passed away late Sunday, May 22, 2022 surrounded by family at Christiana Care Hospital in Newark, DE.
Born Kylinn Michele Stone on April 28, 1961 in Williamsport, PA to Gary and Janet Stone, Kylinn attended elementary, middle, and high school in Renovo, PA. She left her hometown in 1979 to attend Williamsport Hospital School of Nursing and received her Nursing degree in 1982. She started her career at Divine Providence as a Registered Nurse and then transferred to Pocono Hospital where she met and married Brian Gilmore in August of 1984.
She then went on to work at Albert Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia and soon after, the newlyweds moved to Williamstown, New Jersey where Kylinn began working at Kennedy Memorial Hospital. In 1987, the couple had twins, Colin and Colleen. In 1992, the growing family moved to Newark, DE, where Kylinn began working for Christiana Care Home Health.
Kylinn dedicated her life to helping others heal. For over 24 years, she filled many roles at Christiana Care Home Health, but she always preferred working directly with her patients. During her time with the Home Health team, she earned her Wound Care Certification and thoroughly enjoyed her work as a Wound Care Nurse, her vocation until about a month before her passing.
In 1994, Kylinn and Brian had their third child, Mollie. After 13 years in Newark, the family moved to Middletown, DE, where they lived for 14 years while their three children completed high school and college. In 2020, the family moved to Magnolia, DE.
Kylinn was a member of her high school band, which fueled a lifetime love of music that she passed on to her children. She was a band, choir, and sports team mom, and supported her children in all of their extracurricular activities and interests. Kylinn was not only a Girl Scout Troop leader for both of her daughters, but also filled several volunteer roles including Service Unit Manager for the Newark, DE area. Her Volunteer Years of Service with the Girl Scouts totaled over 15 years, and she became a Lifetime Member of the organization in 1997.
Kylinn was an optimistic, gentle, and trusting soul, always the first to offer a kind word or a helping hand to strangers wherever she went. She had a passion for all kinds of crafting including card making, stamping, sewing, crocheting, and scrapbooking, and was quick to pick up new hobbies. She enjoyed bird watching right from the comfort of her own backyard in Magnolia. Kylinn adored dogs, and she never let one pass by without asking if she could talk to or pet them.
Kylinn was preceded in death by her father, Gary Stone. She is survived by her loving husband, Brian Gilmore; her three adult children, Colin, Colleen and Mollie Gilmore; her five beloved wigglebutt dogs; her mother, Janet (née DeJoice) Stone; brother, Bryce Stone; and great aunt, Patricia Lundfelt of Renovo, PA.
All services will be private. At Kylinn’s request, the family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Helen F. Graham Cancer Center and Research Institute and the Christiana Care Home Health Division. For details on making a gift via mail or online, please visit Christiana Care’s website.
