Shik with walk-off win over Central Mountain baseball

SUNBURY, PA – The Central Mountain baseball team built a 3-0 early lead at Shikellamy on Wednesday but the Braves rallied late, five runs over the final three innings to end up with a walk-off 5-4 stunner over the Wildcats.

For Central Mountain it was a second straight loss, after a 5-2 defeat at Bald Eagle Area on Tuesday. And it was the first Heartland Conference D1 loss after 11 straight wins. The Wildcats did build the early lead with one in the first and two in the second but would not score again until plating a single run in the top of the seventh. That final inning ‘Cat score put Coach Mike Kramer’s team back on top at 4-3, but Shik would score two runs with only one out for the walk-off win. The Braves moved to 7-8 in conference play, 7-10 overall.

Gabe Johnson led the Wildcat offense with two singles and an RBI; also in with singles were Nate Helms, Kevin Grenninger and Aaron Miller.

The Wildcats used three pitchers, Chase Brush going the first five, giving up four hits and three runs, two of them earned. Levi Schlesinger and Dallas Alexander followed, Schlesinger taking the loss. Shik benefitted from six free passes and two Wildcat errors.

Central Mountain will finish up another busy week with a make-up game at Danville (6-7; 8-7) on Friday.
