State COVID cases continue upward trend; daily updates now weekly

HARRISBURG, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Health on Friday reported 3,578 new cases. That is the highest one-day amount since Feb. 19.

Meanwhile the state Health Department has announced it will no longer be issuing daily COVID case updates. That information will now be released each Wednesday, the next update May 11.

“The COVID-19 pandemic is not over and Department of Health staff are continually monitoring COVID-19 trends to gain a more accurate and comprehensive picture of what is occurring across the commonwealth,” DOH spokesperson Mark O’Neill told the Centre Daily Times. “The shift to weekly updates will provide more meaningful trends as we anticipate fluctuations in data during this phase of the pandemic.”
