CM baseball: wins keep coming, 18-7 over ‘Shore
JERSEY SHORE, PA – The Central Mountain baseball team, rolling of late, might have been due for a letdown at rival Jersey Shore on Thursday and trailed the Bulldogs 3-0 early on and 6-2 after four innings. But the Wildcats ran off with the lead late in the game in an 18-7 victory. The win put the Wildcats at 9-1 on the year and ‘Shore dropped to 1-6 with the loss.
The game was tied at six with Central Mountain batting in the top of the sixth when Aaron Miller tripled on a 0-2 count, scoring three runs.
The top of the seventh was even better for the visitors as the Wildcats tallied nine runs. The offensive onslaught came from singles by Gardy Fravel, Nathan Helms, Kevin Grenninger, Gabe Johnson, and Cayde McCloskey, an error on a ball put in play by Johnson, and a double by Miller.
Bats blistered as Central Mountain collected 16 hits and Jersey Shore tallied 12 in the high-scoring game. The 18 runs for the Wildcats followed 15 runs each in two earlier wins this week.
Chase Brush got the start for Central Mountain; he went three innings, allowing eight hits and five runs while striking out four..
Helms, Grenninger, Fravel, Miller, and McCloskey each managed multiple hits; Helms went 4-for-6 at the plate.CM also stole seven bases during the game.
Jersey Shore tallied 12 hits in the game. Bauder, Davis, and K Peacock all managed multiple hits for Jersey Shore. Bauder led Jersey Shore with three hits in three at bats.
The Wildcats have one more game in this busy week, Friday at Mifflin County (1-6).
