Next Central Mountain playoff game set for Friday at Clarion vs. New Castle

MECHANICSBURG, PA – The PIAA on Wednesday posted locations and times for round two of the state basketball playoffs and Central Mountain, it turns out, will have to travel a distance on Friday.

The Wildcats, 14-11 and winners of 10 of their last 12 games, will match-up with WPIAL runner-up New Castle (24-2) at 6 p.m. on Friday in Tippin Gymnasium on the Clarion University campus.

Central Mountain advanced Tuesday with its 51-45 win over Hampton (13-12) while the Hurricanes downed Northeastern (16-12) from District 3 by a 63-50 score. New Castle’s only loss since December came in the District 7 Class 5A final on March 4, falling to undefeated Laurel Highlands (Uniontown) by a 60-58 score in two overtimes.
