LOCK HAVEN, PA – Monday night’s Lock Haven City Council meeting saw unanimous approvals on a variety of projects within the city.

Among them, council approved a resolution to apply for state DCED Gambling Proceeds funding for a self-cleaning restroom to serve the Central Business District. The facility would be located in the E. Main Street municipal parking lot. Cost of the project is $323,000 and the funding would include purchase of the facility and related work.

Council agreed to a request from Downtown Lock Haven Inc. Manager Kira Rosamilia to alter the days and times for the organization’s farmers market. Previously the market was scheduled for Saturday mornings from June through August. But the downtown manager said after conversing with several farmers, the organization wants the city okay to switch the day to Thursday of each week from 3 to 7 p.m. and run the program in the E. Main Street lot from May 19 through Oct. 27.

Council approved seeking proposals for a solar power purchase agreement to benefit the city’s wastewater treatment plant. The solar panels would be situated at the William T. Piper Memorial Airport.

Council learned the city will be receiving a donation of $2,715 from Lock Haven University towards services provided. City Manager Greg Wilson said the allocation is for $1 for every student enrolled in the fall semester. The amount has been dropping in recent years as the school’s enrollment has been declining. Wilson said he would be having a dialogue with local school officials about a possible increase in the funding.
