Central Mountain Boys Soccer Team Downs Mifflinburg 2-0 in Rain-Soaked Battle
MILL HALL – The Central Mountain boys soccer team returned to the win column on Monday night, securing a 2-0 home victory over visiting Mifflinburg in a rain-soaked contest at Malinak Stadium. The Wildcats’ victory improves their season record to 5-5-1, while Mifflinburg remains winless at 0-11.
Griffin Confer got things started just ten minutes into the game, finishing a cross from Alton Counsil to give Central Mountain an early 1-0 lead. The Wildcats dominated possession throughout the match, hammering the Mifflinburg goalkeeper with shots after shot. Despite the relentless pressure, the Mifflinburg keeper made save after save, keeping his team within reach.
The second goal came late in the game when a cross from Ben Brinker found Mycah Carson in the box. Carson’s initial effort was won, and Cole Cooper was there to strike the ball home, sealing the 2-0 result with just over five minutes left on the clock.
Goalkeeper Jaggar Pardoe earned another shutout, making two saves on the evening.
Coach Hook said, “Max Verrelli played strong in the midfield to help connect passes on the attack, as did Tim Brinker.”
He continued, “Isaiah Brinker, Bryce Warren, Nolan Cross, Cam Counsil, and Gavin Karstetter kept the backline in comfort all night. “
