cm-soccerBALD EAGLE TOWNSHIP – The Central Mountain boys’ soccer team was never able to overcome a slow start, the Wildcat season coming to an end in a 3-1 loss to State College Monday night.

The Little Lion victory came in the District Six AAA semi-finals at Malinak Stadium, pushing State, the number three seed, into the district final contest Wednesday against the winner of the second semifinal Hollidaysburg vs. Altoona.

State scored first off a corner kick just a minute into the game. In action in front of the net the ball came off State’s Issac Plutzer, then off the head of a Wildcat defender into the back of the net, goalkeep David Kohen without a chance to knock it away.

State College would add a second goal midway through the first half, Kevin Reid with the score, putting the margin at 2-0 at halftime.

After a slow offensive start Central Mountain picked up the pace in the second half, finally scoring off a Tom Eaton assistant, teammate Chandler Condo sticking the ball inside the right upright to make it 2-1 State with just under 15 minutes remaining.

But State would put the game away when Kyle Moerschbacher scored off a break-away with 3:15 remaining to put the victorious Little Lions up by what proved to be the final score of 3-1.

State College, now 11-6-2, outshot Central Mountain 13-7 and had a 4-2 edge in corner kicks

Central Mountain finished the year with a 12-6 mark.
