LHU Lacrosse starts fast, rolls to victory over Ashland

BLOOMSBURG, PA – The Lock Haven University lacrosse team scored 12 seconds into the contest and led 11-1 at halftime as the Bald Eagles (1-1) rolled to a dominating, 15-4, non-conference victory over Ashland (0-2) in a game played at Bloomsburg University’s Steph Pettit Stadium.

The win marked the first of the young season for The Haven.

Standout-goalkeeper Lauren Girardi (Watertown, N.Y./Watertown) made seven saves in the first half on the way to the win. LHU played three different goalkeepers and they led the way in the dominating defensive effort. Ashland was forced into 20 total turnovers and the Bald Eagles racked up 19 ground balls. Gracie Chaires (Darlington, Md./Harford Technical) had two ground balls and two caused-turnovers for Lock Haven.

Leading the way for the dominating offense surge was Caitlin Morrow (Massapequa, N.Y./Massapequa), who had four goals and one assist. Abby Katrinak (Strongsville, Ohio/ Strongsville) netted three goals and Josey Shaffer (Westminster, Md./Manchester Valley) had two goals and two assists.

Zoe Waddell (Catonsville, Md./Catonsville) scored twice for the Bald Eagles. Casey Hibbard (Ontario, N.Y./Wayne Central) added two goals. Campbell Brant (Shoreham, N.Y./Shoreham-Wading River) had a goal and two assists and Krysta Reading (Warrington, Pa./Central Bucks South) tallied one goal and seven total draw controls for the Bald Eagles.
