Lock Haven Y gym team hosts “Greatest Show”

MILL HALL, PA – The Lock Haven YMCA Gymnastics Team hosted the Allegheny Mountain Gymnastics League 2022 Championships Saturday at Central Mountain Middle School. The Greatest Show featured all four A and B Teams in the league, a circus theme (with Lock Haven Y Coach Becky Conklin the ringmaster), food, and photo booth fun.

The Lock Haven entries in the four-term event did well: In the A Team 16 & Up Division Mia Sycz placed first on beam (8.65) and second in all around (33.125). Senior Emma Fox shared the podium with all four seniors at the event on floor and took fourth (8.15). In the A Team 14 & Under Division Summer Biggans placed first on bars (7.75). Harper Conklin placed second on vault (8.45) and third on floor (8.35). Dee Hefferon scored a 7.95 on vault and 7.6 on floor.

In the B Team 13 & up Division Samantha Streator placed sixth on bars (5.6) and floor (8.1). Emily Everett scored 7.5 on vault and a 7.375 on floor. In the B Team 11 to 12 division Evelyn Nestor placed first on vault (8.15) and seventh on floor (7.975) and beam (6.6). In the B Team 10 and Under Division Abigail Immel placed first on vault (8.15), bars (7.35), and fourth in the All Around (28.825). Allie Weaver placed fourth on vault (7.8) and sixth on floor (7.45) and all around (26.925). Kinley White placed second on vault (7.95) and fifth on floor (7.525). Cailin Courter placed eighth on vault (7.50) and bars (5.2). Ashlynn Confer received a 7.1 on vault and 6.725 and competed in the All Around for the first time all season.

Pre-team members Quinn Winslow, Emilia Grieco, Aurora Reeder, and Hadley Crawford each did a Presidential Performance to kick the meet off.

Next up for the team is the PA Classic (states) for our four high school gymnasts: Mia Sycz and Emma Fox from Sugar Valley Rural Charter School and Emily Everett and Samantha Streator from Central Mountain High School.

Middle and Elementary School gymnasts Dee Hefferon, Harper Conklin, Summer Biggans, Cailin Courter, Allie Weaver and Emilia Grieco will be competing at the MBI. Both events take place next weekend at Moon Area High School.
