Two new medical marijuana dispensaries coming to State College area

STATE COLLEGE, PA – The Centre Region (State College area) has one medical marijuana dispensary and soon may have two more.

According to a Monday story on StateCollege.com, Curaleaf plans to open a medical marijuana dispensary in the former Citizens Bank building on S. Atherton St. in State College. A sign to that effect was recently erected outside the site and the Massachusetts-based company’s website said the dispensary is coming soon.

Curaleaf currently operates in 23 states and has dispensaries in Altoona, Brookville and DuBois.

Earlier this year PharmaCann Inc. announced plans for a Verilife dispensary in a former pizza shop location along S. Atheron St. in College Township. No timeframe for opening the Verilife dispensary has been released. Verilife has seven dispensaries in Pennsylvania, including one in Williamsport.

There is one dispensary operating presently in the State College area. Nature’s Medicines at 2105 N. Atherton St. opened its doors in 2018.

Pennsylvania began its medical marijuana program five years ago. More than 633,000 patients and caregivers had been registered with the state, according to the most recent reports.
