Bucks on Bye Week; Rematch at Nativity 10/24
by Jim Morgan
FARWELL – Bucktail football is still looking for answers on the right side of the defense. Columbia-Montour Vo-Tech scored on the first play from scrimmage and continued on for a 40-6 win over the Bucks (0-7). CMVT scored on the very first play from scrimmage as they ran right through the right side of the defense for the 72 yard touchdown and the 2-point conversion was good for an 8-0 CMVT lead.
The Bucks could not get anything going until their third possession, getting their first first down on a pass play from Blake Gavlock to Josh Knauff which covered 18 yards. After another first down, the Bucks went the wrong way on the next three downs.
With the score 16-0 CMVT, they had a long drive of eleven plays going on until Knauff came up with an interception on the Bucks’ thirty-five yard line. Bucktail would return the favor with five seconds left before halftime.
CMVT would receive the ball to start the third quarter as they scored on a twenty-seven yard touchdown after seven plays, the 2-point conversion was good. CMVT had Bucktail running back Aaron Ransdorf in their sights all night. Ransdorf did break one for fourteen yards as that would be his biggest highlight of the evening. On CMVT’s second possession of the third quarter, they scored on a thirty-three yard touchdown with the 2-point conversion good making it 32-0 at the 5:55 mark.
Bucktail’s defense did come up with a big sack to force CMVT to punt as they pinned the Bucks back on their own eleven yard line. CMVT’s defense came up with a safety as the Bucks tried a double reverse play. Just when you think that the Bucks had a chance, CMVT came right back and scored on a 56 yard touchdown run as they pushed the score into the mercy rule.
Coach Bruce Ransom would not let up as Anthony Intallura scored right up the middle of the Ram defense for a 68 yard touchdown 40-6 CMVT. The game would end as CMVT ran out the clock on their next possession.
Congrats to Demetri Probst and Abby Ransom as homecoming King and Queen. For the Bucks it will be another nice week for a bye as they get ready for a rematch against Nativity (3-4) on Friday Oct. 24 starting at 7 p.m. The game will be played at St. Clair, Pa.
