State COVID cases, hospitalizations bump up
HARRISBURG, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Health on Tuesday reported 7,912 new COVID-19 cases, nearly double the amount reported on Monday. The highest one-day amount during the pandemic in the state was 12,884 recorded Dec. 5, 2020.
4,298 COVID patients are hospitalized in the state, up 121 from Monday. Those in intensive care on Tuesday numbered 907, an increase of 28 from Monday.
Clinton County reported 14 new cases for the second day in arrow for a total of 6,226, the lowest number of new cases since five were recorded on Nov. 27. In Centre County 72 new cases were recorded for a total of 23,464. Lycoming County added 103 new cases for a total of 20,179.
The state Monday reported 145 new deaths. The death count in Clinton County remained unchanged at 95.
