State COVID cases jump

HARRISBURG, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Health on Sunday reported 6,289 new COVID-19 cases statewide, the highest one-day figure since mid-April.

The state said there are 2.800 hospitalized patients due to COVID-19, up 39 from Saturday. Of those hospitalized 669 are in intensive care units, down three from Saturday; 275 reported on ventilators, down 18 from the previous day.

In Clinton County 33 new cases were reported on Sunday, bringing the total to 4,415. The 33 cases ties the 33 recorded on Sept. 25 as the most in one day since spring. Centre County saw an increase of 91 on Sunday to 19,522, while Lycoming County increased by 105 to 14,665.

31 new deaths were reported by the state; the death count in Clinton County remained at 71.
