BALD EAGLE TOWNSHIP, PA – Keystone Central School District Superintendent Jacquelyn Martin reported on Friday there are 27 known positive cases of COVID-19 within the district’s student population of 3,637. That number equates to less than 1 percent of the student population. Elementary cases (grades K-4) number 11 and secondary (grades 5-12) total 16. Current cases among staff total eight.

The superintendent’s report was circulated on Friday to the district staff and community. It was her first update since mid-September when 20 student cases were reported.

Her report noted that Clinton County remains at a high level of community spread “with the number of cases…increasing each week.”

She also addressed the continuing mask mandate across the state: According to the PA Department of Health, the mask mandate for K-12 schools remains in effect at least until early November. I believe that our layered mitigation efforts are working and I wish to thank everyone for their cooperation and hard work. It is imperative that we keep our schools open.”

The superintendent’s update also said the nationwide shortage of school bus drivers is impacting school districts across the state and locally and noted steps being taken on a statewide basis to help ease the shortage.

The report also announced that the public will get its first look at the newly renovated Bucktail High School on Thursday, Oct. 14: 4:30 p.m. building tours; 6 p.m. rededication and ribbon-cutting; 6:30 p.m. school board work session and board meeting.

She also shared word that Lock Haven University and the school district will hold a joint homecoming parade on Main Street in Lock Haven on Thursday, Oct. 21 at 6 p.m. The superintendent said the first such parade was held in 2019 but cancelled a year ago due to the pandemic.
