Police say hit-and-run driver “limps” home from Beech Creek to Blanchard

BEECH CREEK, PA – State police say a Blanchard man will be charged with driving under the influence after a hit-and-run accident on Main Street in Beech Creek Wednesday evening. Police said the 22-year-old Blanchard man, not identified in the police report, drove home with two blown tires after the crash.

Police said the driver was operating a truck southbound on Route 150 near 57 Main Street in Beech Creek. The truck left the roadway, striking a stone curb and straddling it for 29 yards, destroying the sidewalk, damaging a speed limit sign and the water main access caps for several residences. The truck then reentered the southbound lane, crossed into the northbound lane and onto the shoulder; then back into the southbound lane.

According to the investigating officer, the driver then “limped his vehicle” to his Blanchard residence; this while both the front and rear passenger side tires blew out. Police said the driver made no attempt to stop and was later located, tested and taken to UPMC Lock Haven Hospital for further chemical testing. Police said charges are pending the test results. Rockview state police assisted Lamar state police in the case.
